Supporting Kevin John McAleese Foundation

Congratulations to the Kevin John McAleese Memorial Scholarship Foundation on an incredible inaugural Believe Gala! Particularly, we thank the generosity and dedication of the gala chairwoman, Dr. Kiplee Bell. And, thank you for including Evantine Design in the honorees!

Evantine Design Honored at Believe Gala

Alongside Jenice Armstrong and Peggy Dolan, my fellow honorees, I’m honored to receive a Believe Award (“Philanthropy in Business”) for our contributions to Philadelphia philanthropy. Supporting the community that I live and work in has been a personal and professional commitment for over 30 years. More importantly, it is my honor to support the scholarship fund of our friend, Kevin John McAleese, taken from this world way too soon. Kevin’s generosity and drive impacted so many and continue to do so now. I can’t encourage you enough to consider supporting the Kevin John McAleese Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

XO Brian Kappra, President & Creative Director, Evantine Design

Learn More About the Scholarship Fund

Kevin John McAleese Foundation
Colonel Kevin J. McAleese was assigned to the Army’s 358th Civil Affairs Brigade out of Norristown, PA. Stationed in the Persian Gulf, he served as Director of the Humanitarian Assistance Center charged with rebuilding post-war Iraq and also served missions in Bosnia and Kosovo. As a reservist, Kevin’s civilian job was as a corporate recruiter, running his own firm, McAleese Associates. In addition, Colonel McAleese volunteered with the Miss America Scholarship Organization and revitalized the Miss Philadelphia Scholarship Organization in 1997, serving as its long-time Executive Director, providing mentoring and over $150,000 in scholarship funds to women under his watch.

Creating the Foundation for Kevin

In 2010, Kevin was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Still, he worked with the Navy’s Wounded Warrior Project until he no longer could. Kevin died on February 15th, 2013. The Kevin John McAleese Foundation was founded in 2013 (501c as of February 2017) to ensure that Kevin’s legacy of kindness and generosity will live on.
The Foundation’s mission is to provide financial contributions in ways that honor Kevin’s legacy. First, through scholarships to women who are pursuing higher education. Past Kevin John McAleese Memorial Scholarship recipients are currently using their awards to pursue higher education in fields of law, medicine, journalism, business, and entertainment. Second, by donating funds to the Glioblastoma Center of Excellence at the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center.

Fighting for a Cure & Foundation’s Intention

Kevin fought for a cure until his death. As the foundation expands, we hope to support families of those suffering from brain cancer as well as those military families of wounded warriors.
